Is esports betting taxable in the UK? I am making consistent returns from Valorant and CS2 betting and want to make sure I am on the right side of HMRC. I know gambling winnings are generally not taxable but does consistent profitable betting change the classification?

Account restriction on esports is a genuine problem with mainstream bookmakers. They are not sophisticated enough at esports pricing to handle winning esports bettors so they restrict quickly. For live CS2 betting the interface speed is critical. Betway and Midnite are both significantly better than mainstream bookmakers for in-play markets. Mainstream sites often suspend markets between rounds which makes live CS2 betting impractical.

The tier 2 coverage gap is the main weakness of mainstream UK bookmakers for serious esports bettors. If you want to bet on anything below ESL Pro League or VCT Challengers level, Midnite or GG.bet are your realistic options. Esports Betting will not price up these events.
